While you may feel like you want to install a large niche to house every bathroom product in your repertoire, modern design is moving away from larger niches in favor of a more minimalist style. Using the same material as the rest of the shower, the smaller niche in either a long or tall rectangular style that follows the room directionality is able to contribute to the clean, zen vibe the modern shower is trying to evoke.
